The December Entry

So I pretty much suck at updating this. As you my be able to guess from the title, I'm at least hoping to post something once a month. More often if I remember, and/or actually have something to write about.

I guess the news I really want too share is that God is still working in my life. Usually when I go on one of my God kicks, I'm all pumped about doing the right thing for a few days, maybe a week or two, then it fades. Prime examples would be any time following a youth conference. Those are always a time to re-focus, but once all the lights and music fade, and when I'm not surrounded by gung-ho Christians, Satan definitely goes to work.

Perhaps the reason I'm still thinking about God a lot these days is that we're planting a new church in Eau Claire. Being involved with something like that...I don't know...it just makes me feel like God can use me. It's great having a new network of friends to do things with, made even better because everyone has the same goal. It's definitely exciting seeing God work in the Chippewa Valley to get this thing going. While I've been mildly disappointed at the turnouts to our sneak Preview Services, I know God has a plan, and that His Will will be accomplished. In the mean time, the Launch Team services that we have when we don't have a Sneak Preview seem to be succeeding. I plan on including more updates on the Bridge Church in my apparent monthly installments. Stay Tuned!

On a slightly related topic, the Progressive Dinner we had as a launch team was great, as was the Thanksgiving Dinner. As a young adult in this day and age, I feel blessed to be able to fellowship with others in a setting that doesn't involve alchohol or sex or drug references. It's nice to be able to Suit Up and get a good meal and just have some good old fashioned fun that doesn't require a power cord or a controller.

Extreme Living: God's will for My Life

So here we go with a second entry...this one completely different from the first.

in the last few months, Satan has been fairly active in my life, trying to get me to follow his ways, and the ways of the world. Unfortunately, I was perfectly fine with that. I was doing absolutely nothing to prevent him from taking over. My devotional times were non-existent. I went to church because I was expected too, not because I wanted too. Any opportunity or excuse I could find not to go, I would use.

That all changed recently, when I met a girl. This is going to seem ironic, because the girl who inspired me to go back to God is not a believer. She's pretty much anti-everything that has to do with God. Sad as it may be, we started hanging out a lot, and I was working out a way in my mind how we could be together even though God expressly forbids marriage to a non-believer.

Thankfully, my God is Awesome indeed. He brought another girl into my life. This one a fairly strong Christian. She loaned me some books on relationships and dating through God's eyes. Reading them, I became convicted of my lack of a prayer life, or anything else even remotely God-like in my life. I started going to Him in prayer at all hours of the day, even late at night in my bed. I prayed for God to renew my walk with Him. and amazingly enough, I started noticing God answer my prayers. it's such a wonderful feeling knowing that even though I pretty much turned my back on God, He still cared enough to Love me when I returned to him.

Now, I know the road ahead won't be easy, but at least God will be by my side every step of the way. With His help, I know I can make it through this journey we call Life.

That's all for now,
Kevin Sieg

Rodgers Rant

What could be better for starting a blog than a rant about a football player? Probably a lot of things, which is why it's taken me so long to get a blog. I'm not that good at it.

Getting to the topic at hand: Why are so many people convinced that Rodgers is good for GreenBay...or that he can even play football for that matter? Yes, the Packers are 2-0. Do you realize who their opponents have been? The Vikings and the Lions. Wow. Not Impressed. People tell me, "Oh, the vikings are good this year. They have Jared Allen." Riiiiight. That's why they're 0-2. Wake up people! The Vikings have sucked for awhile, and this year is no different. As for the other oponent, well, it's the Lions. Enough said.

My roommate was all excited cuz Aaron scored on a 1 yard TD run. Are you frickin' kidding me?!? A 1 yard TD run, really? My mom could score a 1 yard TD run. It requires that you don't fumble the football and you fall forward. That's right. Trip yourself and you score. Let me know when you break a few tackles on your way to the endzone. What was with the sissy slide on Sunday? Favre would have taken the hit and kept right on trucking.

Furthermore, where was Rodgers on the second half of that Lions game? They won the game because the Defense picked off 3 straight passes, not because of anything Rodgers did. He looked down right lethargic in the second half. Pathetic.

Anyway, this is the first of what I'm sure will be many rants about life in general, cuz that's the kind of Blogger I plan on being.

Peace out, yo!
